Nursing work is definitely in demand these days which is why many people prefer to take up the said field in college. This is also the reason why you would find different schools offering the curriculum all over the world. Nursing school is not easy, and most enthusiasts think that having their very own Littmann Lightweight II S.E. Stethoscope or Littmann Master Cardiology Stethoscope is enough to help them get a job right after college.
What most nursing students need to know is that practicing as a nurse should not be taken for granted after school because there are things that people cannot learn from the four walls of the classroom. Here is a list of the things that people cannot learn from any school:
Time Management
Time management is very important when you are working as a nurse. This is something that could help you make or break your job, which is why it is important that you learn how to manage your time. The thing is, time management is not taught in college. This simply means that this is something that you have to learn on your own.
Stress Management
Dealing with stress is also something that you should learn on your own. Make sure to find ways to help you de-stress since a nurse's job would definitely be stressful. You might not learn dealing with stress in college but you will definitely learn how to deal with it once you are already employed or working as a nurse. You just have to have a "me" day to make sure that you also cope with stress after a hard day at work.
Emotional Control
Another thing that you should learn on your own and something that you would not be taught in the classroom is dealing with your feelings. Your job would surely have your adrenaline rushing all the time especially in emergency cases.
Dealing with Death
Dealing with death is also something that you need to cope with on your own. It is definitely a great challenge to tell people that their loved one is dead and it takes a lot of courage to do so. This is not taught in the classroom, which is why you really need to learn how to empathize and sympathize during these times.
Dealing with Doctors
Lastly, dealing with doctors is also something that you have to find out on you own because this is definitely not part of the nursing curriculum.
Always bear in mind that your job as a nurse would not stop the moment you already have your own Littmann Lightweight or 3M Littmann Master Cardiology Stethoscope because the job of a nurse is a continuous learning process. You learn everyday so be sure to bear this in mind.
